RECORDED WORKSHOP: Learn to Draw & Paint Horses

Four sessions lasting approximately 45 minutes each.

Join James Power for this four-part series of pre-recorded workshops to learn the basic
steps needed to successfully draw and paint horses.
Session 1: Basics of Drawing the Horse
Session 2: Adding colour and form to the Horse
Session 3: Looking more closely at the horse’s head.
Session 4: Painting the horse’s head in oils.

Once you have made your purchase you will receive an email from
office@munningsmuseum.org.uk with a link to play the recordings via Vimeo (installation not
required). This will be within 48 hours of purchase. You may return to the recordings at any
time.

For the last thirty years of his working life, James Power held the position of stud groom for a
major stud farm, Juddmonte Farms, Cheveley, Cambridgeshire, UK. He retired in 2011 and
today gives his time and knowledge to the industry and to charities in which he has become
involved.

Working in oils, watercolours and pastels, with a passion for a wide range of subject matters,
particularly Suffolk rural life, James is an active member of The Society of Equestrian Artists
and was elected Full member of the Institute of East Anglian Artists in 2021. He has
exhibited in major galleries in London and throughout the UK and has paintings in collections
around the world, including in the Garrick Club, London. He was Artist in Residence to York
Racecourse in 2016 and winner of the Best Racing Picture, 2000, sponsored by Horse &
Hound Magazine.

Currently James teaches equestrian art and is a regularly tutor at the Munnings Art Museum,
Dedham, Essex, UK.
